Quick patch to www/squid 3.5.8 for TP_IPF on FreeBSD 9.3
7 Sep 2015 The port got upgraded to 3.5.8 (from 3.5.7), but it won’t build with TP_IPF. The next day 3.5.8_1 came out with a fix for TP_IPF build. Not sure if I had this update when it was first encountered by my automated poudriere setup. But, it failed again on the next run, so there’s something else wrong.

A quick update to 'print/cloudprint'
15 Jun 2015 While browsing through ports looking for something else, I stopped to take a peek at print/cloudprint. Now I’ve been building this port for sometime, with the intent of trying to get it set up. As I am currently doing this through the small ubuntu VM running on my main system ‘zen’, I named the VM ‘uzen’.

My Forgotten BackupPC patch
14 Jun 2015 Somewhere in December/January, not sure if it was before the ports freeze at work.1 Because the patch had made its way into my BackupPC instance at work. But, it appears that in Perl 5.18, the ‘random’ order of hash keys was taken a step further and now there is no guarantee that the ‘random’ order of the keys will be constant and portable.

Some WIP commits
11 Jun 2015 After finally, breaking down and looking at what patches to get ports-mgmt/portrac version 0.5 to at least compile. I looked at the current state of uncommitted patches that I’ve been working on, and saw that I had been in the middle of making a git commit on my patches to math/orpie. I couldn’t recall if things we working yet, because I’m still running the prior version. And, currently poudriere is rebuilding everything from scratch, due to having done freebsd-update to the jails recently (though what was patched shouldn’t have affected anything?) Plus there not being a kernel bump, I had to do my extra ‘poudriere jail -U’ hack to make the push back UNAME_r and UNAME_v. So, that the systuils/lsof produced by poudriere won’t complain about kernel version mismatches.

I finally lost it with FedEx
2 Apr 2015 Yesterday, April 1st, I spotted what seemed to be a wonder deal for a Limefuel Lite LP200X (after reading a review of it through Drippler), and it came with free next day Amazon Prime delivery. The only downside, was I ordered from my iPad so no Smile donation to the Narcolepsy Network  Wish they would come out with an Amazon Smile version of the app. Shortly after that, I got notification that my order was being prepared to ship by FedEx. Seem to always have trouble when Amazon Prime uses FedEx, but can’t really control what Amazon uses. The surprising ones of late have been their use of USPS. But, I happened to be up around 2am this morning, when I received notification that the Amazon order shipped FedEx Overnight (Standard) which originated from Phoenix, AZ had arrived in Indianapolis, IN. WTF, why do they keep sending my shipments there? This will be the 3rd FexEx Overnight (previous two were Priority) to make a stop over in Indianapolis, IN.

patch sysutils/dirdiff when CFLAGS is set in /etc/make.conf
30 Mar 2015 Since meld got removed during upgrade to gnome3, which I have reinstalled from ports since it’s replacement doesn’t do diffs of directories. And, I often have this need. So, in looking for alternatives, this was the first obvious one to try.

fix accessibility/redshift with VIDMODE option in poudriere
29 Mar 2015 Been working on rebuilding all packages for my work computer in poudriere, where this was the last package that was failing. But, had built fine for my computer at home in poudriere. Work computer uses an older NVIDIA card, though it was relative new when started working there in 2006, so until I get upgraded I’m stuck where I constantly live with applications complaining that RANDR extension is missing.

Revisiting graphics/shotwell after webkit-gtk3
28 Mar 2015 In finally getting around to examining the response to the PR I had submitted in previous post, last weekend I had eventually settled on a simplier patch for this problem. One that avoids the messiness of using OSVERSION, without OPSYS for places where FreeBSD ports are used by other distros without means to abstract these details away, and resolves what the correct solution for the OPENMP option is.

using the F5configbackup appliance and selinux
27 Mar 2015 At work we got a pair of BIGip 7200v units, with the notion that we will be migrating from our BIGip 6400 pair in the near future. In the meantime, having a means to backup their configs is highly desireable. Especially after a close call to losing everything on our 7200v’s due to bad directions given by an outside consultant (he had directed onsite consultant to turn on GTM & LTM on the host which was vCMP dedicated.) Fortunately, config backups of the mgmt existed as a manual backup done prior to making those changes along with our legacy backup process.

fix build of net/p5-IO-Interface-1.09 on FreeBSD
7 Feb 2015 After this port was upgraded from 1.06 to 1.09, I found my net-mgmt/nagios-check_dhcp.pl port had stopped working. I jumped the gun by assuming that the problem was due to this port, and likely to its use of IO::Interface in a manner that had been marked deprecated. However, the patch PR#196528 didn’t solve this problem.

Unable to launch calibre from applications menu
16 Jan 2015 It has apparently been a while since I’ve used this app, like evidently pre-gnome3 or was it just pre-9.3? Having trouble remembering wehn was the last time I used it. Feels like it was just before my last KUMC trip in December. But, don’t recall when I had the jump to gnome3…

fix build of emulators/pipelight in poudriere
14 Jan 2015 Due to the depth of support for NPAPI plugins by www/chromium, I’ve been looking for alternatives to restoring some of the lost plugin functionality. During the search, I had come across a pointer to multimedia/moonlight. Namely by trying to join a Microsoft Lync meeting, which requires Silverlight (which I had partly been able to do with an earlier chromium release), and in trying to have it give me an installer, it suggests I look for Moonlight. Which may or may not still be a supported offering on Linux, but had dropped out of ports back in 2012.

Fix graphics/shotwell after webkit-gkt3 update
14 Jan 2015 This was the final port, I needed to get to, that broke after the update to www/webkit-gtk3. Which was the last I expected to run into, and was a little bit more complicated to resolve. Especially, where the OPENMP option has code compiled with gcc that links against a 'libc++.so', which had been a dependency of www/webkit-gtk3 prior to its switch to being compiled with USES= compiler:c++11-lib.

fix mail/evolution build after webkit-gtk3 update to 2.4.8
14 Jan 2015 After looking at x11-fm/sushi, I look to see why this port had failed and found the same issue. Resolved with the same fix.

x11-fm/sushi fix build after webkit-gtk3 update to 2.4.8
14 Jan 2015 Well, the update of www/webkit-gtk2 & www/webkit-gtk3 to 2.4.8, results in the latter now also USES compiler:c++11-lib. Which causes this port to fail until a modification similar to getting ports affected by webkit-gtk2-2.4.7 is done.

extra patch to get gnucash to build for me after the webkit-gtk2 update
14 Jan 2015 On Dec 25th, 2014, www/webkit-gtk2 was updated to 2.4.7. This lead to a number of ports failing to build due to its use of compiler:c++11-lib. And, since I had waited to after Christmas to finally get around to updating ot 9.3, which required a rebuild of all my ports, this was preventing me from reach that target until late on January 8th, 2015. There was a patch to this port (on December 30th, specifically for 8.x but also applicable to 9.x) to also use that, but it wasnt’ sufficient to get things to build for me.

fix build of x11-toolkits/wxgtk30 after webkit-gtk2 update
14 Jan 2015 Related to the Dec 25th, 2014 upgrade of www/webkit-gtk2, this port was also failing to build and resulting in a number of skipped ports.

Getting chinese/arphicttf to build in poudriere
14 Jan 2015 For the longest time, when I started running poudriere, chinese/arphicttf would fail leading to misc/freebsd-doc-en getting skipped.

p5-IO-Interface-1.09 is broken
6 Jan 2015 So, after yesterday's knee jerk patch to net-mgmt/nagios-check_dhcp.pl turned out to be a failure. Which came about because I had failed to notice that I hadn't updated `net/p5-IO-Interface` on my test host. It had only been updated in my jails...

Update p5-IO-Interface on my nagios server broke DHCP?
5 Jan 2015 Well, its causing nagios to report that my DHCP servers are critical. Though the actual problem is "Illegal Seek".
